Jaipur: A scuffle over pet dogs turned fatal for a man who was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbours in Tathed police station area of Kota district on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Ramraj Meghwal, was attacked with sticks and iron rods when he was heading for his home from a field around 9 am.
The man sustained critical injuries and was rushed to MBS Hospital, where he succumbed during treatment, the police said. The two assailants -- Bhagwan Mali and his brother Rakesh Mali -- were later detained by police, reported Times of India.
Meghwal’s body was handed over to his family after a postmortem. According to Beni Prasad, the DSP of the area, both the Meghwals and the Malis had pet dogs in their respective houses and there had been some trouble between the two over the pet dogs for a long time, quoted TOI.
The victim's family members told the media persons that when the family’s children leave home for school in the morning, Bhagwan Mali would often set his dog free and frighten them. "A case of murder has been registered against Bhagwan Mali, his brother Rakesh and some other family members," Prasad said.
