Musk's $1M Scheme 'Deceptive'? Philadelphia District Attorney Files Lawsuit

Send Push

Philadelphia's District Attorney Larry Krasner sued Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his America PAC, over $1 million giveaways to registered key state voters. He termed the giveaway as "illegal lottery scheme." "The Philadelphia District Attorney is charged with protecting the public from public nuisances and unfair trade practices, including illegal lotteries," Krasner said in a statement."Today the Philadelphia DA filed a civil legal action under Pennsylvania law. This civil action neither precludes nor requires potential future action under the Pennsylvania criminal law," he continued. "The Philadelphia DA will litigate the factual allegations and legal arguments that underlie today's filing on record and in court."In the lawsuit, Krasner's office suggested that Musk's daily giveaway of $1 million cash prize should be stopped as they operated outside of the legal guidelines of the Pennsylvania law. Apparently the law requires all giveaways and lottery schemes to be "operated and administered by the state."The lawsuit has also alleged Musk of selectively choosing voters for the prize. "Though Musk says that a winner's selection is random, that appears false because multiple winners that have been selected are individuals who have shown up at Trump rallies at Pennsylvania," the lawsuit stated.

How Elon Musk's Team Responded To The LawsuitA spokesperson for the Pro-Trump group, America PAC, refrained from responding to the lawsuit and instead revealed the groups latest lucky voter who had won a $1 million cheque. The tech billionaire along with America PAC, a Pro-Trump group announced the monetary giveaways earlier this month. He handed out a million dollar cheques every day to those who registered to vote in the seven key battleground states, including Pennsylvania.
