Send Push

Actor Radhika Apte's recent appearance at the UK premiere of her movie 'Sister Midnight' took everyone by surprise, as it was her baby bump visible in a stunning black bodycon dress that stole the spotlight. Married to British music composer and violinist Benedict Taylor, the actor is expecting her first baby with him. It’s been 12 years since the duo tied the knot. Known to keep a low-key profile, both Radhika and her husband have hardly shared much about their personal lives over the years. However, from whatever little we know their love story blossomed when Radhika had gone to the UK to learn contemporary dance while being on a sabbatical from her acting career in India. It was in London where she had met Benedict and the two had fallen in love with each other. When she returned to India, Radhika shared a long-distance relationship with her then boyfriend. We all know that long-distance relationships come with their own set of challenges and Radhika had once confessed that it was heartbreaking for her at different points. To ensure their love stayed intact and their bond grew stronger, both Radhika and Benedict made a deliberate effort to see each other every month. Sometimes Radhika would fly down to the UK to meet her then boyfriend and sometimes the latter would come to India to spend quality time with the actor. After a year of being in a relationship, the two decided to tie the knot. True to their characters, their wedding ceremony was held in Northern England and it goes without saying it was an intimate one at that. Only some close friends and family members were in attendance. In an old interview, Radhika had mentioned how she had a DIY wedding where the couple made food themselves and enjoyed themselves to the fullest. Also, guess what? The couple didn't take a lot of pictures on their wedding day. To explain why they didn't, Radhika had mentioned that even though there were many photographers at the wedding, they all were so busy having a gala time that the thought of taking pictures didn't really occur to them. Isn't it amazing in its own way? Their union was followed by an official celebration in 2013. Always known to speak her mind and be her candid best, Radhika had earlier expressed her scepticism about the institution of marriage. In fact, she had once also admitted that her decision to marry Benedict was driven by practical reasons, that is, to escape visa issues, adding that her love for him transcended traditional views on marriage, with both partners believing in the importance of personal freedom and lack of boundaries in relationships.Well, we only have good wishes for the couple who're on their journey to embark on a new chapter.
