Why Kamala Harris Is Restricting Interviews, Advisor Explains

Send Push

Kamala Harris has given the fewest sit-down interviews as the presidential nominee since replacing Joe Biden in the Democratic Party ticket. So far, she has given only six sit-down interviews and has faced a lot of flak for it from both allies and opponents. Amid that, one of her senior campaign advisers, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, has explained the reason behind dearth of interviews. Lance Bottoms said, appearing on CNN’s 'The Lead with Jake Tapper,' that the reason Harris is not giving interviews is because she is "very busy" amid the campaign schedule and her work as the Vice President. “She’s a very busy person,” Bottoms explained. “She’s the vice president as well as a candidate.”“We heard her today talk about her views on these policies,” Bottoms said, referencing Harris' appearance with Oprah Winfrey for a campaign event. “It may not be in the format that the media would like. It may not be that she’s sitting down doing a one-on-one interview, but we heard her today in Georgia talk about her stance on reproductive freedom.”

Kamala Harris' Lack Of Interview A Problem?Kamala Harris has appeared for interviews with CNN's Dana Bash, Philadelphia's ABC radio and the NABJ event. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has done at least three times as many interviews in the same period. Trump's appearances include X Spaces with Elon Musk and a Twitch stream with Adin Ross.Earlier, it was reported that there is a growing ire among Democrat operatives about Harris' lack of interviews. The New York Post quoted an anonymous Democratic operative as saying that Harris should sit with local TV channels for interviews as it reaches a lot of people. “It reaches the actual voters in the battleground states much more than cable news," the operative said. Those are the voters that will decide the election.”
