Bhopal: A 28-year-old man, who works as a cleaner at a medical store, was robbed allegedly by two acquaintances while walking home in Shahjehanabad on Friday evening. The accused snatched his mobile phone, along with Rs 250 in cash tucked into its cover, before fleeing the scene.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Hemant Bichhale, who resides near the police outpost in Sanjay Nagar, Shahjehanabad police registered a case on charges of snatching against the named accused, and launched a manhunt.
On Friday around 6 pm, while returning home on foot, Hemant reached the lane opposite Kamla Devi Hospital when two known individuals, identified as Pawan Satnami and Mohit Rathore, allegedly intercepted him.
Before Hemant could react, as per the complaint, the accused took out his mobile phone from his pocket. The phone's cover also contained Rs 250 in cash. Hemant shouted for help, but the accused fled the scene with the mobile phone.
After reaching home, Hemant informed his mother, Dharmibai, and other family members about the incident. He later approached Shahjehanabad police and lodged a complaint against the two accused. Police raided the suspects' hideouts, but they remain at large. "Efforts are underway to trace and nab the accused," a police officer said.
