Daltonganj: A heavy exchange of fire took place between Palamu district police and the banned splinter group of naxals, Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in Jaspur forest under the Manatu police station limits on Saturday. However, there is no report of any injury or casualty from any side.
Additional SP (operations) Rakesh Singh said, "The encounter took place in full daylight. It was heavy exchange of fire for around half an hour. They were very well armed. They fought to escape."
The site of the encounter is a difficult and treacherous terrain, said the official. "We will neutralise them soon," he added.
The TSPC group consisted of five ultras who belong to the dreaded TSPC rebel Shashikant and Gautam's squad, said the ASP.
Following the encounter, the police recovered three cell phones, a power bank, a dongle, one magazine of SLR, and some bullets. "We are yet to count the exact number of bullets left behind by the ultras," said the ASP.
