Chatra: The district administration on Saturday demolished a house built on an encroached govt land using bulldozer. The crackdown took place in Asani village of Sadar block in Chatra district. The encroachment was removed by a team led by Sadar circle officer Anil Kumar.
Sources said hundreds of villagers from Asani village complained to the district administration about the encroachment of this land since 2018. They mentioned that the land of khata number 77 and plot numbers 109 and 165 in Asani village is non-cultivated govt land. The Ram Navami festival used to be held on this land. Apart from this, the people of the village have been performing many death rituals here on this land.
According to them, a person named Mahendra Yadav from the village illegally occupied this land and built a house on it. Based on the villagers' application, Kumar said he investigated the matter, and the documents provided by the villagers were found to be correct.
Following this, the circle office issued notice to Mahendra Yadav thrice to remove the encroachment. Kumar said, "When the encroachment was not removed even after the notice, the administration took action to remove the encroachment."
