Laurus Labs sets up new R&D centre in Hyderabad at Rs 250 crore investment

HYDERABAD: Biopharma player Laurus Labs Ltd on Monday said it has opened its new research and development (R&D) facility in Genome Valley .

The facility, which has come up at the IKP Knowledge Park at Shamirpet, has been set up at an investment of Rs 250 crore and is expected to create about 800 jobs.

Spread over 2 lakh sq ft, the new R&D facility is equipped with modern laboratories and infrastructure.

The company said the new facility has been set up to support the company’s contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) business.

Laurus Labs founder & CEO Dr Satyanarayana Chava said the new R&D centre will be the company’s fifth R&D facility that will focus on developing groundbreaking solutions to address unmet medical needs.

Telangana industries & IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who inaugurated the facility, said the new R&D centre along with Laurus Labs’ new manufacturing facility, which it is setting up in partnership with European player KrKa, represents a total investment of Rs 2250 crore over the next four years and will create around 2,800 jobs.
