Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput will complete 10 years of marriage, together they have created a small family with Misha and Zain. Though there is a 13 year age gap between the couple- the two of them share a very strong bond. Over the years Mira has charted her own career path as a Youtube content creator ,she now even has her own wellness brand, However, despite her growing presence, Mira often finds herself introduced in the media with the label ‘star wife’ — a term she now believes has long outlived its relevance.

Speaking to host Janice Sequeira on the first episode of Social Media Star With Janice Season 5, Mira candidly addressed why the label should be done away with. "We ought to get over it now,” she said. “Maybe it was an association that one needed to make for recall value. But even if you put that on a kid and you say star kid, people don’t like listening to star kid for all of its nepotistic connotations. Yet, that term is still in use — it needs to kind of find its way out.”

Mira, who appeared alongside singer-rapper Badshah on the episode, also questioned the inherent gender bias in such labels. “I have never understood the concept of a star wife, what does that mean? You can have an actor, a celebrity, or a star who has a wife or a husband — but nobody ever says star husband. Why is there a star wife?” she pointed out.

With her remark, Mira brought attention to how women associated with public figures are often identified solely through their partners’ fame, while male partners rarely face the same. The conversation sparked a fresh dialogue online about media language and the importance of recognising individuals beyond their relationships.
