When Dara Singh warned Vindu about marriage, 'he told me to be very sure'

When Vindu Dara Singh married actress Farah Naaz, sister of Tabu, back in 1996, little did he know that his late father Dara Singh’s cautionary words would eventually echo with meaning.

A father's advice

Earlier, in a candid conversation on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, Vindu opened up about his first marriage and shared how Dara Singh had advised him to think carefully before making such a life decision. “He told me to be very sure,” Vindu said, acknowledging how complex things can become over time in a relationship when personal paths diverge.

“She even used to smoke, while no one in my family did”

Vindu opened up about the highs and lows of his time with Farah. The couple had a son, Fateh Randhawa, in 1997, whom Vindu calls the biggest blessing from their union. He shared how, at the beginning, religion and lifestyle differences weren’t an issue. “She never cared about religion… she even used to smoke, while no one in my family did,” he said. But over time, things shifted. Vindu said, “She became a completely different woman,” marking the beginning of the end for their marriage.

Maintaining a friendly relationship: “She’s a wonderful mother”

Despite their separation and a tough phase when he was not allowed to see his son for six months, Vindu holds no resentment. “I forget things easily,” he playfully admitted, adding that he and Farah have since maintained a friendly relationship. “She’s a wonderful mother,” he emphasized. Looking back, Vindu embraces both the joyful and difficult moments, cherishing the bond he still shares with his son while respecting the journey they’ve all been through.
