John Cena is inching closer to the end of his wrestling journey as he gets more and more involved in the world of Hollywood. With 2025 being his last year as an in-ring performer in WWE , wrestling fans have gotten to see him more often than in the last few years. But even as he continues his Farewell Tour, Cena is at the same time maintaining his silver screen commitments and is currently out in New Jersey to shoot for his upcoming Netflix movie, Little Brother.
John Cena takes a break from WWE ahead of SummerSlam 2025
This year, SummerSlam 2025 is set to be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The event will take place on the first weekend of August - Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3. But according to NJ.com, it looks like John Cena is already in New Jersey as he is on a break from his wrestling commitments, and is busy shooting for his upcoming movie, Little Brother, in which he stars alongside Eric Andre .
Cena plays a famous real estate agent whose picture-perfect life turns upside down when his eccentric little brother, played by Andre, drops by for a visit (and more). The movie is being directed by Ingrid Goes West fame's Matt Spicer , and the cast and crew have gathered in New Jersey to begin filming. The story has been written by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (Yes Man, The D Train).
After the Night of Champions event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Cena has some time off from WWE, and this has made it possible for the wrestling legend to keep up with his Hollywood commitments while he continues his farewell tour in WWE. While he does have some appearances scheduled before the SummerSlam weekend, it's mostly light work. His next big appearance will be against Cody Rhodes , where they once again face each other after that night in Las Vegas for a one-on-one fight. For now, the wrestler-turned-actor is balancing both parts of his career quite amazingly.
