MLB insider on Yankees' possible reunion with their alum Andrew Heaney With the 2025 MLB season already in full swing, the New York Yankees are looking forward to bringing changes to the team roster. According to the MLB rumor mill, the Yankees might look forward to trading the Venezuelan pitching star Carlos Carrasco during the ongoing season in order to strengthen their starting lineup.
According to an update by an MLB insider, the New York Yankees might look forward to roping in the Pittsburgh Pirates star Andrew Heaney. Reputed media outlet Sports Illustrated’s Kenneth Teape suggested that the Yankees might welcome back their $5 million former star in order to add depth to their pitching rotation. He said,
"It wouldn’t hurt for the Yankees to explore the trade market early and see if anyone is willing to sell a useful starting pitcher.”
He further elaborated-
“The Pittsburgh Pirates come to mind as a good trade partner with veteran Andrew Heaney on a one-year deal and top prospect Bubba Chandler looking ready for a shot in the MLB."
During one of the most turbulent phases of his career in 2021, Andrew Heaney went on to post a 7.32 ERA over 12 starts. Reportedly he gave up 13 home runs and recorded a 1.35 WHIP in just 35.2 innings. His short stint with the Yankees left a poor impression, and the rest is history. He was roped in to the Pittsburgh Pirates roster on February 22, 2025, for $5.25 million for the ongoing MLB season.
