The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued a new advisory outlining important ‘dos and don’ts’ for the internet users across India as tensions rise following Operation Sindoor . The advisory, shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), talks about the importance of responsible online behaviour and asks internet users to not fall for any misinformation .
The IT ministry posted a list of ‘dos and don’ts’ on Twitter and asked the users to be vigilant and responsible. “Critical Online Safety Alert always follow cybersecurity precautions . The ministry has also laid down some important points to keep in mind as cybersecurity precautions.

Government advisory to OTT channelsThe Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has issued an important advisory to OTT platforms, media streaming services, and intermediaries operating in India. The advisory comes in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor carried out by Indian Armed forces.
"In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect," the advisory issued by the ministry said.

- Fact-check news with official sources before sharing
- Report fake news immediately
- Don’t share troop movements
- Don’t forward unverified information
- Avoid posts that may incite violence or communal tensions
