Amit Shah targets Rahul Gandhi at Haryana rally: 'Do you know what MSP stands for?'

Send Push
Union home minister Amit Shah launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally, questioning his understanding of agricultural policies and the Minimum Support Price ( MSP ) while underscoring the BJP government 's achievements in Haryana.

"Rahul baba, do you know the full form of MSP? Which crop is Kharif, which one is Rabi, do you know?" Shah asked, emphasizing that the BJP government in Haryana procures 24 crops at MSP. He challenged Congress leaders to identify any Congress-ruled state that matches this commitment.

Shah highlighted the BJP's track record, saying, "Farmers may sow whatever they have to; it is the BJP government that procures the produce." He further contrasted current MSP rates with those from the Congress era, asserting, "During Congress rule, paddy was procured at Rs 1,310 per quintal, now it is Rs 2,300, and if you elect the BJP government in Haryana, we will procure paddy at Rs 3,100."

He also criticized the Congress party 's handling of agricultural procurement, pointing out that "bajra MSP used to be Rs 1,250 per quintal, which increased to Rs 2,625 under the BJP government." He posed a rhetorical question: "How much paddy, wheat was procured by UPA?"

In addressing corruption, Shah claimed that the BJP has eradicated middlemen, stating, "Congress governments used to run on the basis of cut, commission and corruption... under BJP government, there are no dealers, dalals, while there is no question of damad."

Shah reiterates support for armed forces and criticizes Congress

Shah's remarks extended to the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP), noting that "from Indira Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi, Congress did not fulfill the demand, but Modi gave OROP in 2015." He accused Congress of disrespecting the armed forces, stating, "Congress always insults Army. It is the Congress which had the audacity to call Army chief a 'goonda'."

He made a bold promise regarding the Agniveer scheme, saying, "Haryanawalo, I make this promise, not even one Agniveer will be without pensionable job, this is BJP's promise."

Shah further condemned Gandhi's stance on Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, declaring, "Not only you, even your third generation cannot bring back Article 370," while reaffirming that "Kashmir is our own and nobody can dare look at it."

Promises for the future

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, Shah highlighted the BJP's commitment to development in Haryana, announcing several initiatives if the party is re-elected. He mentioned plans for a cooperative mustard oil factory, a museum dedicated to martyrs, a new medical college, and women's empowerment initiatives including the Lado Lakshmi scheme, which promises Rs 2,100 per month for women.

He urged voters to support BJP candidates in the October 5 polls, stating, "Make sure to vote only for candidates who have the BJP symbol."

Shah concluded by criticizing the Congress's past record on reservations and jobs, asserting that under BJP rule, jobs are given based on merit rather than through corrupt practices, saying, "Whenever Congress wins, development takes place only in a few districts, while there is injustice with the Ahirwal belt."

The rally showcased the BJP's aggressive campaign strategy as they seek to maintain power in Haryana, emphasizing both past achievements and future promises.
