NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajiv Bindal on Sunday accused the Congress-led state government of betraying unemployed youth by introducing a ‘job trainee’ scheme instead of fulfilling its poll promise of providing regular jobs.
Addressing a press conference, Bindal cited an old video of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in which she promised to give 1 lakh government jobs annually. He added that other Congress leaders, including Rajiv Shukla, Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, had repeatedly made similar promises before the assembly elections.
According to Bindal, the state government’s recently notified scheme—where candidates will be engaged as 'job trainees' in Group A, B, and C posts for two years with a fixed stipend instead of a regular salary—was a way to delay addressing unemployment. Regular jobs will be considered only after candidates pass an examination or efficiency test.
“The Congress government , in its first cabinet meeting, had announced filling 63,000 vacant posts and creating 37,000 new ones. Instead, it has introduced this trainee scheme, which is just a ruse to defer jobs by at least a year,” Bindal said.
He further alleged that only people with political connections are securing employment under the current regime. “This is a government that either takes anti-people decisions or no decisions at all,” he added.
