ALMATTI ( VIJAYAPURA ): Almatti Dam site in Karnataka's Vijayapura district experienced a three-hour blackout on Saturday after state-run Hubli Electricity Supply Company ( Hescom ) disconnected power, setting a Monday deadline for the payment of over Rs 180 crore in dues.
"Hescom restored power after we requested their MD. But they have set an Oct 28 deadline to clear bills. We have informed state govt," said a source from Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited ( KBJNL ), which operates the dam.
Hescom had previously cut power to the dam for around five hours on Oct 19 over outstanding power bills. Out of Rs 187 crore in pending dues, KBJNL paid Hescom Rs 3.48 crore on Oct 22.
