Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg , known for his trademark grey T-shirt, has revealed a shift in his approach to fashion while also discussing the future of human connection at a recent event. He shared that he has started collaborating with renowned fashion designer Mike Amiri to create his own clothing line, marking a significant departure from his previous minimalist style.

"This one I actually worked with this great fashion designer, Mike Amiri, and he's got a great story, so I wouldn't be surprised if you're doing one of these with him one day. I've started working on this series of shirts with some of my favorite classical sayings on them. So this one is 'pathemathos,' learning through suffering. It's a little family saying," Zuckeberg said.

Zuckerberg explained, "I figured if we're going to design eyewear and other items people wear, we should get good at this." His latest shirt features the classical saying "pathemathos," which translates to "learning through suffering," inspired by his sister. He elaborated on its meaning, stating, "You learn what matters to you and your place in the world through repeatedly hitting your head against different challenges."

Shifting gears, Zuckerberg also discussed META's vision for the future of social experiences, stating, "At META, we've been building social experiences for 20 years now. But I never thought about us as a social media company. We are a social connection company." He emphasised a desire to create ideal social experiences that extend beyond small screens and mobile devices.

He envisions a future where social interactions occur through augmented reality glasses that provide a more immersive experience. "These glasses could see what you see and hear what you hear, acting as the perfect AI assistant," he explained. Furthermore, he imagined projecting holograms into the world, allowing for richer social interactions without the constraints of a phone.

Zuckerberg noted that creating these glasses involves significant challenges, including developing a new display technology, miniaturising components, and integrating features like eye tracking and voice recognition. He believes this innovation will lead to what he calls the "ultimate digital social experience," blending human presence with AI and transforming how people connect.
