ACB Recovers ₹59 Lakh Cash from Lockers of PWD Engineer Ajay Singh in Ongoing Bribery Probe

Jaipur, May 5, 2025 — The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan has recovered ₹59 lakh in unaccounted cash from four lockers belonging to Ajay Singh, Executive Engineer with the Public Works Department (PWD) in Baran, who was earlier arrested for accepting a ₹5 lakh bribe.

The recovery was made during a court-sanctioned search of Singh’s remaining bank lockers in Kota, following his arrest on April 28.

Bribery Arrest and Expanding Investigation

ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda confirmed that Ajay Singh was caught red-handed while accepting a ₹5 lakh bribe from a complainant. During the trap, officials also recovered an additional ₹50,000 in suspicious cash in an envelope at the time of the arrest.

Following Singh’s judicial custody, ACB sought court permission to open his remaining lockers. The latest search led to the discovery of:

• ₹15 lakh in two separate lockers in Singh’s name

• ₹15 lakh in a locker held by Singh’s daughter

• ₹14 lakh in a joint locker held by Singh and his daughter

This brings the total recovered cash from the four lockers to ₹59 lakh.

Total Seizure Crosses ₹1.09 Crore

So far, ACB has uncovered the following assets in connection with Ajay Singh:

• ₹2 lakh in cash from his residence

• Fixed deposits in the names of Singh and his family worth ₹76 lakh

• Bank savings totaling ₹2 lakh

• Gold jewelry valued at ₹7.5 lakh

• 361 silver coins

• Life insurance investments of ₹5 lakh

• Two cars and one scooter

• Total locker cash recovery: ₹1.09 crore (including ₹59 lakh in new finds)

Investigations into additional assets, investments, and properties held by Singh and his family are still underway.

Legal Action and Next Steps

Singh is currently in judicial custody, and ACB is preparing to file a detailed charge sheet under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Authorities have not ruled out more arrests or asset seizures as forensic audits and property evaluations continue.

This case adds to a growing number of high-profile corruption cases in Rajasthan, where ACB has intensified its surveillance and prosecution of government officials involved in bribery and illicit asset accumulation.
