Commentary
  • And that’s it from Day 4! Who would have thought that this game would drift till the last Day? But that's the beauty of Test Cricket, which gives you a second chance to redeem yourself. India are just 58 away from wrapping this up, and if the pitch behaves as it has, slow and low, the morning session could decide everything. Can the Windies snatch a few early ones to make India sweat, or will it be a short stroll to victory? We’ll find out soon. The action resumes for Day 5 on Tuesday, October 14th at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT), but as you know, join us an hour early for all the pre-start analysis. Until then, breathe and smile! TAKE CARE! CIAO!
  • John Campbell, one of the centurions of the Windies, is up for a quick chat. He says that he can't really put it into words about getting his maiden Test ton. Adds that they always knew it would be a good batting track, and it was all about getting the start and converting it. Mentions that he loves to play the sweep shot, and still played his shots, but was more selective. On Sai Sudarshan's catch of him in the first innings, he says it was a freak one, and he couldn't do much about it.
  • So, what can both teams take away? For India, it’s another statement of dominance at home - the spinners, the patience, and the batting depth all shining through. Yet, the inability to clean up tails quickly might give them something to ponder. As for the West Indies, plenty of positives despite the probable loss - John Campbell’s redemption arc, Shai Hope’s classy ton, and that Greaves-Seales partnership that earned respect across the stands. The gap in quality remains, yes, but the fight? That was world-class.
  • And then came the chase! India’s openers walked out with intent, and Yashasvi Jaiswal looked like he wanted to finish the game early. Two cracking boundaries in the first over, but then - a rush of blood, and he holed out at long on. KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan steadied the ship, rotating strike smartly and punishing loose balls. No rush, no panic - just class. By Stumps, India had reached 63/1, needing just 58 more runs.
  • Session 3 - Oh, what a partnership that was! Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales decided to make the Indians earn every wicket. A 79-run stand for the 10th wicket - yes, you read that right. Boundaries came in along with singles, and so did the frustration for India. When Seales finally holed out to Bumrah, West Indies had stretched the lead to 120, a number that felt far more respectable than what it looked like two hours earlier. It was defiance at its best, and the applause from both dressing rooms said it all. If you ever needed a lesson in stubbornness, this was it.
  • Session 2 - But then, the dream met reality! The extended second session was all about India clawing back control. Shai Hope reached a fine century, his third in Tests, but once Siraj found his rhythm and nipped him out, the domino effect began. From 271/3 to 311/9, the collapse came fast and furious. Kuldeep Yadav turned the ball like a magician at work, picking up three, while Bumrah chipped in with those signature toe-crushers. Still, the tail refused to give up. Greaves and Seales blocked, nudged, and occasionally slashed their way through, keeping India on the park for around 22 overs - exhausting. Talk about testing patience, right?
  • Session 1 - What a morning that was! West Indies, the team everyone thought had run out of answers, came back swinging, literally and figuratively. John Campbell and Shai Hope put on a masterclass in patience and shot selection. Campbell finally got his long-awaited Maiden Test hundred, punching the air with pride, while Hope played like the calm professor in a chaotic classroom, guiding the innings with poise. At Lunch, the West Indies were 252/3, trailing by just 18 runs - yes, just eighteen! From being forced to follow-on to nearly wiping out the deficit, the morning was all Windies.
  • STUMPS ON DAY 4! India are on the brink, while the West Indies are out of gas but not out of fight. The end is near, but what a journey this Test has been. Four days, over a thousand runs, and a rollercoaster of emotions - this Delhi pitch saw it all. India, after piling up 518 in their first innings, have once again shown why they’re nearly unbeatable at home, while the West Indies can hold their heads high after showing courage, grit, and plenty of heart. At Stumps, India need just 58 runs to do a whitewash in the series by 2-0, standing tall at 63/1, chasing 121. The Windies? They fought till the last breath, stretched India for 191 overs in the field, and made them work hard for every inch. But now, the finish line is right in sight.
